Bund Wall Cleaning and Spill Response

19th & 20th May 2008

Enva was contacted by a customer regarding an estimated 5,000 litres of spilt 3500sec heavy fuel oil (HFO) contained in a bunded area of their facility. An environmental services crew was immediately dispatched to recover the spilt fuel and clean the bunded area.

The HFO had mainly covered the recovery trench around the bunded tank farm. However, it had mixed with stagnant water previously contained in the trench.

On completion of pre-works risk assessments & works permits, Enva’s operatives proceeded to recover the bulk of the waste on day one, with the tanker drawing the liquid from the bund, as well as operatives pushing the pump-able waste to a draw point.

On day two of cleaning an approximate 100 metres of recovery trench was thoroughly cleaned. All waste and washings were transported to the Drumaness Facility under Consignment Note for recovery.
